THE  BLUE  MANSION IS NOW A BIG SUCCESS IN PENANG

THE BLUE MANSION IS ONE OF PENANG'S MOST FAMOUS AND HISTORIC MANSIONS

Testament  of  Group’s  Growth  in  Asia
Hospitality  group  SAMADHI  has  signed  a  long-‐term   management  agreement  to  brand  and  manage  THE  BLUE  MANSION,  A  Cheong   Fatt  Tze  Legacy  in  the  UNESCO  World  Heritage  Site  of  George  Town,  Penang.

This is the  Group’s  third  property  in  Malaysia,  adding  to  its  existing  portfolio  of   hotels  and  restaurants  in  Malaysia  and  Singapore.

THE  BLUE  MANSION  is  an  iconic,  late  19th  century  mansion  and  widely  believed   to  be  the  favourite  home  of  Cheong  Fatt  Tze  (1840-‐1916),  a  rags-‐to-‐riches  Hakka   entrepreneur  from  China,  a  Mandarin  of  the  highest  Order  and  a  man  described   by  the  New  York  Times  as  the  ‘Rockefeller  of  the  East’.

Its  historical  background   makes  it  the  ideal  destination  to  enjoy  Penang’s  unique  historical  and  cultural   tapestry.       Under  the  helm  of  SAMADHI,  THE  BLUE  MANSION  has  been  refurbished  to  its   former  grandeur,  reflecting  the  opulence  of  the  tycoon’s  lavish  affluence  in  its   artful  blend  of  contemporary  comfort  within  its  heritage  space.

The  mansion   comprises  18  rooms,  each  individually  themed  and  furnished  with  luxurious   amenities  alongside  precious  heirlooms  from  the  family’s  private  collection.

A  new  addition  to  THE  BLUE  MANSION  is  the  CHEONG  FATT  TZE  RESTAURANT,   serving  exquisite  modern  Cantonese  cuisine. The  Mansion also  features beautiful
Chinese  gardens  and SAMADHI  Spa.

“SAMADHI  is  thrilled  to  be  associated  with
THE  BLUE  MANSION,  which  holds   great
cultural  value  and  is  such  an  integral  piece  of  Penang’s  historical  fabric.  Its   iconic  status  makes  it  a  perfect  match  with  SAMADHI  properties,  which  are   identified  by  their  unique  locations  that  are  true  to  its  strong  sense  of  place and a perfect  destinations  to  indulge  in  the  SAMADHI  Experience,”  says  Federico   Asaro,  Founder  and  Chief  Executive  Officer  of  SAMADHI.

THE BLUE  MANSION  is  SAMADHI’s  first hospitality  venture  in  Penang and  a   significant  milestone  in  its  growth  plans. A signature  of  the  hospitality  group  is its careful  selection  of  its  properties,  a process that may take years and ‘fine-‐ tooth combing’ of  the  region  to  uncover  a property  special enough  in  its  location    and character,  to qualify  as  a  potential SAMADHI  property.

The  opening  of  THE  BLUE  MANSION  is  also  testament  of  the  Group’s  intentions   to  grow  its  portfolio  in  the  region.  It  is  poised  to  open  a  fourth  hotel,  a  22-‐room   colonial  escape  in  Singapore  in September    2015,  in  its  first  hospitality  foray  outside   Malaysia.

“The  opening  of  THE  BLUE  MANSION  is  part  of  our  overall  Asian  growth  outlook.   As  an  Asian  brand,  our  steady  and  continued  expansion  in  the  region  reflects  not   only  the  growth  opportunities  for  our  brands  and  portfolio,  but  also  our   commitment  to  bringing  Asia  to  the  world  in  our  own  signature  way.

"In  essence,   our  goal  is  about  identifying  the  right  properties  and  attracting  the  right  people   to  enjoy  and  appreciate  them.”

About  SAMADHI   SAMADHI  is  an  established  and  ambitious  hospitality  group  offering  unique  holiday  and   dining  experiences  in  Asia.  It  owns  and  operates  several  award -‐winning  properties   including  JAPAMALA  in  Tioman  Island,  a  13-‐villa  and  chalet  award-‐winning  resort  that   opened  in  2004;  VILLA  SAMADHI,  a  21-‐villa-‐room  urban  retreat  in  Kuala  Lumpur  that   opened  in  2011;  THE  BLUE  MANSION,  an  iconic  22-‐room  mansion  in  the  UNESCO  World   Heritage  Site  of  George  Town,  Penang  in  2014;  and  in  September  2015,  it  will  open   VILLA  SAMADHI  Singapore,  a  restored  20-‐room  residence.

It  also  owns  and  manages   the  TAMARIND  Group  of  Restaurants,  which  include  TAMARIND  SPRINGS  and  NEO   TAMARIND  in  Kuala  Lumpur,  and  TAMARIND  HILL  in  Kuala  Lumpur  and  Singapore.

“The  SAMADHI  Experience”
Translated  from  Sanskrit,  ‘SAMADHI’  is  the  highest  stage  in  meditation,  the  moment   when  a  state  of  mind  is  achieved  and  one  experiences  a  fusion  with  the  divine  universe.

Our  wish  is  to  deliver  a  transcendent  experience  where  stresses  and  anxieties  of  daily   life  are  surrendered  at  the  door  and  our  guests  transition  to  an  intensely  relaxed  state  of   mind,  in  what  we  call  ‘The  SAMADHI  Experience’.
