An Evening with Nathalie and Friends
Chef Nathalie Arbefeuille launches her MIGF menu with a special dinner party

The warm and inviting decor of Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie
Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie was the venue for a chic dinner party hosted by MIGF Organising Chairman Dato' Steve Day for friends and associates, to sample the exquisite Festival menu by Chef Nathalie Arbefeuille and her team.
A darling of the KL premium dining scene, Chef Nathalie has made a unique contribution to the city’s burgeoning fine food reputation, offering novel dishes and modern takes on French classics. Last year's MIGF saw her pick up a number of much-deserved awards both for her menus and overall dining experience: something she is certainly keen to repeat this year.

As guests arrived at Menara Taipan, nestled beneath the watchful gaze of the KL Tower, conversation and laughter flowed freely, no doubt helped by fine champagne and superb aperitifs. In this high-powered, high-paced city, time for social engagements is often at a premium, so old friends enjoyed the time to catch up, with Chef Nathalie making fleeting appearances to enthuse about the menu she and her team had so much fun putting together.

All settled at the long dining table, elegantly bedecked with roses, Dato' Steve commenced proceedings with his usual lively speech, followed by introductions of Chef Nathalie who explained each dish in turn to the appreciative gourmands.

Every morsel of Chef Nathalie's menu is meant to be savoured: she spends an inordinate amount of time balancing tastes and textures, scents and sights, to create the perfect dish. Her menu this year takes in many regional specialities - Lobster from Brittany, Seabass with a Dieppoise sauce and Oven Roasted Rump of Lamb with a Provençal jus, each of which had the diners raving.

H E Martine Dorance, Ambassador of France and self confessed lover of Chef Nathalie’s cuisine, noted, “Nathalie is a great chef and she always chooses the best ingredients, such as tonight's Brittany Blue Lobster, which was really very special; it was very light, didn’t have any unnecessary ingredients and was very tasty and healthy!” Those sentiments were echoed by Datuk Ali Abdul Kadir; “It was a very enjoyable experience, the ambiance was ever so pleasant and of course I really enjoyed Chef Nathalie’s cooking. The lamb was my favourite dish tonight - it is very hard to cook lamb to perfection and this one was beautiful” he enthused.

The consensus among all the diners was that this menu is one of Chef Nathalie's masterpieces, from the aperitifs on arrival, to the 'Lady Gla Gla' dessert; every dish was a winner. Of course, good food by itself doesn't make a great restaurant, as Mr. Jose Baranano remarked "I have heard a lot about Nathalie’s food but what really surprised me tonight is the quality of the service. When you do not notice the service but your glass is always full, I was impressed and astonished by how good they were tonight, and this is something missing from some restaurants in Malaysia”.

At the end of another outstanding dinner party, guests duly thanked the Chef and her talented team, going their separate ways harbouring memories of fantastic French food and delightful company.
