This term’s class of 18 designers from 6 nations showed off their collections drawing from inspiration such as Arabic Abayas, Indian textiles, Japanese Samurais and others and adding their contemporary twists.

Awards were presented to students with the best techniques and the most creative collections by Limkokwing’s Associate Vice President of Talent Development Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim who said the awards went to those who went the extra mile to create their own textiles, shoes and had the strongest concepts for their collections.

There was no shortage of talent on show, with performers from the University’s Sound and Music Design Academy who got the crowd to sing along and dance with their original and cover grooves and ended with All I want for Christmas. Ernie Shaheerah belted her single My Only One to cheers from her fans.

Based on their unique creativity and worldly knowledge, previous graduates have gone on to become the next big hits in local and regional industries such as Daniel Chong, Andy Yap and Rico Rinaldi.

Other notable graduates include Jovian Mandagie, Zaireen Ibrahim of the Melium Group, Sueann Chong, fashion director of Catcha Corp. Publishing and Anu Rai, fashion director of Marie Claire UK.

Hosted by Malaz Elnaiem from the UK and 2006 Zimbabwean Idol Jonah Sithole, the anchors for The Magic of Limkokwing- the World in One Place radio show every Sunday at 10pm.
